College expands as part of landmark restoration project

A landmark office building in Beverley is now a bustling hub of business and learning following a successful restoration, remodelling and refurbishment programme. Minster House forms part of the market town’s thriving Flemingate centre and has been sympathetically modernised by owner Wykeland Group in a £550,000 project.

College marks Armistice Day with Act of Remembrance and Veterans Dinner

East Riding College marked Armistice Day with a moving Act of Remembrance and its inaugural Veterans Dinner.  The College staff and students at both main campuses in Beverley and Bridlington gathered to observe the two minutes silence at the eleventh hour on Thursday 11 November.  The Act of Remembrance is a non-religious event that staff and students organise to bring the College community together to remember the fallen.

Yorkshire and Humber Institute of Technology opens its doors at ERC

East Riding College has expanded its Flemingate site in Beverley to include a new Yorkshire and Humber Institute of Technology (IoT).  The IoT in the Yorkshire and Humber has brought investment of over £10million of capital funding into the region.  The £2.1m Institute at East Riding College houses specialist high-level training facilities for engineering and technical disciplines.  The College aims to boost employment opportunities and improve the number of suitably qualified candidates in the technical and professional jobs market.

Principal of East Riding College Mike Welsh has been named a sub-board member of the Hull and East Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (HEY LEP).  The HEY LEP recently announced the appointment following a successful recruitment campaign where the LEP was overwhelmed by both the number and quality of applications received from individuals representing many different sectors.  Sub-Board members are set to steer the economic direction of our region and have been appointed by the Hull and East Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership to contribute to its Growth and Wellbeing Strategy.
