Mayor of Abingdon-on-Thames Civic Service

The Mayor of Abingdon-on-Thames, Cllr Margaret Crick, will be holding her Civic Service at 10:30 AM on Sunday 9th September in St Helens Church, Abingdon.

The Service will be led by the Rector of Abingdon, Dr Charles Miller.

All are welcome to attend the service.

August Bank Holiday bin collection changes

Please see below we have received from The Vale of White Horse District Council - 

Householders are being reminded by Vale of White Horse District Council of changes to their bin collections during the week following Bank Holiday Monday.

There will be no bin collections on Bank Holiday Monday 27 August. Everyone’s bins will then be collected one day later than usual.

This includes households who normally have their bins emptied on a Friday – crews will be working on Saturday 1 September to catch up.

IT issues at Town Council

The Council has been experiencing IT problems and in particular the receipt of e-mails. No e-mails were received by Abingdon.gov.uk addresses on Tuesday 7th August or this morning until 12 noon(Wednesday 8th August) and there was further problem until 3pm. The matter has now been resolved.

If you have sent any e-mails from 22:00 hrs Monday 6th until 3pm Wednesday 8th you are advised to resend any e-mails which you originally sent during this period to ensure that they are now received.

AAAHS 50th Anniversary - Gallery Talks

From Saturday 21st to Sunday 29th July 2018 -  (11:30 am - 2:15 pm) For fifty years the Abingdon Archaeological and Historical Society has been at the forefront of research into the town’s past. Its members have excavated sites, examined historic buildings, and scoured archives. Throughout their 50th Anniversary exhibition at the museum, AAAHS members will deliver talks and discussions that will explore Abingdon's history, archaeology and architecture showing visitors what the society has accomplished in the past fifty years.

Notice of Public Rights

Abingdon-on-Thames Town Council has published its Notice of Public Rights and Publication of Unaudited Annual Governance & Accountability Return for the year ended 31st March 2018. The public inspection period for the accounts begins Monday 2nd July and ends Friday 10th August 2018. The Annual Return and supporting financial statements are available for inspection at the Roysse Court Offices.

Reminder about the next Community Led Plan Meeting 

Following the Community Survey which took place in the autumn, the results have now been collated and analysed.

Residents are now invited to help progress the work at a series of meetings which will focus on the issues which have been highlighted by the survey as priorities.  To each of the meetings we are inviting representatives of the various organisations who have responsibilities in relation to the matters under consideration.

Music in the Park - Sold Out

Wristands for Saturday evening's Music in the Park event are now sold out, so there will be none available on the gate.

However if you have pre-ordered wristbands but have yet to collect them, these are available at the Town Council control tent during Fun in the Park (open until 3.30pm) or at the Abbey Car Park gate when the gates open for Music in the Park .  Gates will open between 4.30 and 5pm.  You should bring with you your online order number.

Fun and Music in the Park Saturday 2nd June 2018 – a guide for the day

Both Fun and Music in the Park take place in the Abbey Grounds and for everyone’s safety Abbey Close will be closed to traffic all day. The Abbey Close car park (immediately adjacent to the Abbey Grounds) will also be closed.

Your last chance to get wristbands for Saturday's Music in the Park

There are just a few wristbands remaining for this Saturday's "Music in the Park." The event takes place in the Abbey Grounds - gates open 5pm and the event ends with the traditional firework display at 10pm.
